Mahone Bay & Lunburg

Mahone Bay...... is "pretty as a picture". It has art galleries, specialty shops and all nestled around this beautiful little Cove.
Lunenburg......This is a neat little town with a lot of Brittish history. It was a very important town ..... again for it great fishing. This town has been given the designation of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is where the great Bluenose Sail Boats are built.
I loved the road signs in the downtown historic area. They were all different kinds of fish.....
Next we went to the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic....... and it was great. We first went aboard the Thereas Connor, the last of the dory schooner fishing boats. This is the sleeping/kitchen/eating room. There was little privacy and real tight quarters. The stories we were told!!! Life was real hard for those old fishermen.
The Cape Sable...... This is a side trawler built in 1962 and is the modern fishing boat. The work of the fishermen still looks hard but this boat is much less dangerous and life was much better for the men.
We ate at the restraurant here at the museum.......lobster, of course. It was better then great.
